WordPress Translation Day Global Events in September 2021

Do you know WordPress? It is a free, open-source website creation platform. Designed with usability and flexibility in mind, that allows you to easily build websites and publish content online. It was launched back in 2003 and has since grown to become the most popular website building platform in the world.

This year WordPress contributors around the world are celebrating the sixth Global WordPress Translation Day throughout the entire month of September. WordPress Polyglots contributors from around the world will host small events throughout the month where they will translate themes, plugins, apps, meta, documents and other important projects. The event will take place over 30 days, totally dedicated to helping and encouraging the volunteers who translate the software and its related resources.The series of events started on September 17 2021 and finished on the United Nationsโ€™ International Translation Day itself on September 30 2021, and the events will also focus on recruitment, virtual training and general process improvements.

The main language of the events is English and everyone can watch these events live on YouTube and share their translation stories.
Seven events are planned and will take place in different locations. In Portugal, Tehran, Bengaluru, Jakarta, contributors are planning sprints to translate popular plugins and WordPress core.

See the programme of events:

  • Friday, September 17th at 10:00 UTC: Introduction to WordPress Translation Day. Will be shown a panel featuring the latest update on what is happening in the world of WordPress polyglots. There will be a short presentation on translation statistics, a video demonstration on how to translate WordPress and a preview of the next one also.
  • Sunday, September 19th at 12:00 UTC: Panel on Polyglots Tools. Will talk about the tools that have helped translators and translation editors.
  • Tuesday, September 21st at 11:00 UTC: Panel on Open Source Translation Communities. Will talk about how to learn about nurturing translation communities.
  • Thursday, September 30th at 16:00UTC: Closing Party โ€“ Why do you translate? The final event for 2021 will cover the highlights from some of the local and global events during the month and a selection of results. So, The final session will recap the monthโ€™s events, highlight success stories, and will also include some activities and games. 

The livestream and the event will be followed by an after party celebration. All participants of the huge global event have opportunities to connect with other translators and team leaders and share their experiences contributing to WordPress.
